Give your old jeans a second life. Make them a practical and extremely necessary thing - a shopping bag. Of course, it is better to sew a bag of tight jeans, in which case it will keep its shape perfectly. A jeans shopping bag will become your beautiful, original and enduring assistant. In addition, recycling old jeans as bags will reduce the use of bags, which in turn is very environmentally friendly.
We present to your attention a master class on sewing a shopping bag from old jeans.
1. Let's start by laying out jeans on a flat surface. We cut off the bottom, as it is often very worn out. Next, measure 45 cm and cut off. Thus, the estimated size of the bag will be 40x35.
2. Now we proceed to the seam, it should be ripped. We select the seam on which there is no finishing line. This line will serve as a decoration for our bag.
3. We fold the front sides inward and align. Everyone knows that when cutting trousers, the back panel is wider than the front panel, and this needs to be corrected. We grind one side, which will serve as the face of our bag.
4. We make a lining pattern. As a lining, you can use an old shirt or any other soft fabric. Wrap the jeans on one side, this shows that the bag has a bottom. Lining will begin at the place of the bend. Do not forget to leave a few extra inches of fabric - these are seam allowances. In addition, it's okay if the lining is larger than the bag itself.
5. Almost every jeans has pockets, this is their main attribute. It is very casual and comfortable. Therefore, with a simple stitch, sew the pocket to the product.
6. We grind the second side and proceed to the bottom.
7. We turn the jeans until the bottom is formed, as shown in the photo below.
8. We measure the corners at the level of 4 cm and grind them. In order for the work to be neat, iron the seams without fail.
9. With the help of scissors, we straighten out the corners.
10. With the lining, we repeat everything the same. We turn the product.
11. What do we do with the top? We wrap the lapel inward and iron it.
12. We sew the lapel at the level of 0.5 cm.
13. Handles are best made from a denim belt, in this case there will be less work on them. Let's take the length of 36 cm, this is taking into account allowances. With the help of pins, we pin the handles to our bag, while retreating from the middle seam by 4 cm.
14. We look at what happens from the inside of the product.
15-16. We turn the product.
17. The finished lining is waiting in the wings and here it is. The lined pocket makes a great inside pocket.
18. We insert the lining into the inside out bag in such a way that they turn out face to face.
19. To be sure, you can start by sweeping.
20. Now you can already stitch.
21. It seems that you can turn it inside out and admire the product.
22. In the place where the needles are pinned, a couple of stitches should be made so that the handles of our bag are strong.
